Sadie Hawkins day originated in the L'il Abner comic strip (I guess). Bob Rahrle is visible here playing the role of Marryin' Sam. The older teens would prearrange a hiding place before the chase began in the morning, then feign a run for it when found by the one who they really wanted to be found by. Then with the "wedding" the catchee had to do chores for the catcher. Then the afternoon chase was the other way round. That's one thing that I always thought was very good and healthy about camp. It was OK for kids to socialize with the opposite sex. Joe
